ORDER

Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side.

WP(MD) No. 29314 of 2026

2. This Writ Petition is filed for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the 2nd Respondent to consider the Petitioner's Application dated 24.07.2026 in File No.2026/0103/24/040162 seeking transfer of patta in respect of the agricultural (nanjai) land measuring Hec. 0.37.0 (i.e., 91½ cents) in Survey No.22/2A, Patta No.502, Angadimangalam Bit-1 Village, Madurai East Taluk, Madurai District, and to issue patta in favour of the petitioner.

3. The petitioner has approached this Court seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to consider his representation dated 24.07.2026, requesting the grant of patta pursuant to the application submitted by him.

4. The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that the said application was rejected on 06.08.2026 and that, without challenging the said order of rejection, the petitioner has approached this Court.

5. A perusal of the order dated 06.08.2026 would indicate that the petitioner's application was processed and the report had also been filed by the jurisdictional Village Administrative Officer. However, without referring to the report, an innocuous rejection had been made, as if the parent documents have not been produced. In

WP(MD) No. 29314 of 2026 that regard, it is also further to be noted that the said order has been made by the Zonal Deputy Tahsildar and not jurisdictional Tahsildar concerned.

6. In that regard, this Court finds no impediment in directing the 2nd respondent to consider and pass orders. Accordingly, the 2nd respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's application dated 24.07.2026 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and to other interested persons if any, within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

7. With the aforesaid direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. 09-10-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Neutral Citation: Yes/No Nsr To:
