ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by G.R.Swaminathan J.) Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader for R1 to R4.

2. The petitioner has complained that there are illegal encroachments in the petition mentioned sluice. In fact, the fourth

WP(MD) No. 28932 of 2026 respondent had assured the petitioner that proper action will be taken to clear the encroachments. But this assurance given on 21.06.2024 did not witness any follow-up action. That is why, the petitioner has come before us. In fact, inaction on the part of the fourth respondent was a reason for filing of this writ petition. We therefore thought that we could compensate the petitioner with some cost.

3. But then, the learned Special Government Pleader called upon us to refrain from doing so. He assures us that if any time limit is fixed by us, it will be strictly adhered to.

4. Taking note of the said submission, we do not impose any cost on the fourth respondent. We direct the fourth respondent to take up follow-up action and pass a speaking order and intimate the same to the petitioner within eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. If any encroachment is noticed, it goes without saying that encroachment should also be contemporaneously removed. The Writ Petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs. (G.R.S.,J.)
