ORDER

The petitioner is aggrieved by the proceedings of the Registrar, VELS Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS), dated 21.08.2026, whereby his admission was cancelled with immediate effect.

2. The reason for cancellation of the petitioner's admission is that he had secured admission to the Three-Year LL.B. Programme by representing that he had passed his undergraduate degree, B.A. Sociology, in April 2024. However, upon verification, the 1st respondent found that the petitioner had actually passed his undergraduate examination only in April 2025. Therefore, the 1st respondent concluded that the petitioner had committed misconduct by suppressing the fact that he had not passed the undergraduate examination, which is a mandatory prerequisite for admission to the Three-Year LL.B. Programme.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner, the learned counsel appearing for the respondents 1 and 2, the learned counsel for the 5th respondent and the learned counsel appearing for the 7th respondent/University.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that one subject namely “Counselling Skills”, was undertaken by the petitioner in the month of

July 2025, which was introduced in the third year of his undergraduate course. According to the learned counsel, the petitioner was not aware of the introduction of the said subject at the time of joining the undergraduate course.

5. The learned counsel appearing for the 7th respondent/University would submit that unless all the subjects are cleared, the petitioner will not be deemed to have passed the undergraduate examination. In the present case, the petitioner had cleared the examination only in April 2025. Since the provisional certificate issued by the University also clearly reflects the year of passing as 2025, the petitioner's claim that he had passed the undergraduate examination in April 2024 cannot be accepted.

6. In view of the fact that the petitioner had cleared all the prescribed undergraduate subjects only in April 2025, as confirmed by the 7th respondent/University, and the provisional certificate also reflects the year of passing as 2025, I do not find any reason to interfere with the impugned proceedings. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands dismissed. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs. 03.11.2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Neutral Citation: Yes/No vv2
