ORDER

The petitioner is aggrieved by the proceedings of the Registrar, VELS Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS), dated 27.08.2026, whereby his admission was cancelled with immediate effect.

2. The reason for cancellation of the petitioner's admission is that he had secured admission to the Three-Year LL.B. Programme by representing that he had passed his undergraduate degree, B.Com., in April 2024. However, upon verification, the 1st respondent found that the petitioner had actually passed his undergraduate examination only in November 2025. Therefore, the 1st respondent concluded that the petitioner had committed misconduct by suppressing the fact that he had not passed the undergraduate examination, which is a mandatory prerequisite for admission to the Three-Year LL.B. Programme.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner, the learned counsel appearing for the respondents 1 and 2, the learned counsel for the 7th respondent/University and the learned counsel appearing for the 8th respondent.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner had completed all six semesters of his undergraduate B.Com. Degree Programme and had secured admission to the Three-Year LL.B. Programme by furnishing genuine academic records. Though an issue arose regarding the completion of the Community Service component, the petitioner subsequently completed the additional 26 hours required for regularisation, pursuant to which the Consolidated Mark Statement and Provisional Certificate were issued. It is further submitted that there was no deliberate suppression or misrepresentation on the part of the petitioner and that the respondents, without properly considering the relevant academic records and the petitioner's explanation, cancelled his admission after permitting him to complete two years of the LL.B. Programme.

5. The learned counsel appearing for the 7th respondent/University would submit that unless all the subjects are cleared, the petitioner will not be deemed to have passed the undergraduate examination. In the present case, the petitioner had cleared the examination only in November 2025. Since the provisional certificate issued by the University also clearly reflects the year of passing as 2025, the petitioner's claim that he had passed the undergraduate examination in April 2024 cannot be accepted.

6. In view of the fact that the petitioner had cleared all the prescribed undergraduate subjects only in November 2025, as confirmed by the 7th respondent/University, and the provisional certificate also reflects the year of passing as 2025, I do not find any reason to interfere with the impugned proceedings. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands dismissed. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs. 03.11.2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Neutral Citation: Yes/No vv2
