ORDER

This Contempt Petition has been filed alleging wilful disobedience and non-compliance with the order passed by this Court dated 16.07.2025 in W.P.No.21800 of 2025.

2. Mr.N.Umapathi, learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent Corporation, would submit that this Court, by order dated 16.07.2025, directed the petitioner to remit a sum of Rs.15,00,000/- out of the total demand of Rs.57,40,280/- towards the outstanding property tax arrears. However, the petitioner failed to comply with the said direction. The learned Standing Counsel would further submit that the subject property was brought to sale in a public auction pursuant to the SARFAESI proceedings initiated by the bank, and the auction purchaser has remitted the entire demand amount of Rs.57,40,280/- towards the outstanding property tax arrears payable to the Corporation. Hence, he would submit that the entire outstanding property tax arrears have been remitted to the Corporation and that there is no wilful default on the part of the respondent Corporation.

3. In view of the above, the petitioner is directed to file his objections, if any, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Upon receipt of such objections, the respondent is directed to consider the

CONT P No. 3543 of 2026 same and issue 14 days' clear notice to the petitioner, fixing the date of personal hearing, and thereafter pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner, as expeditiously as possible.
