ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed for the following reliefs:- “ Directing the respondents, particularly the 2nd Respondent, to consider and dispose of the Petitioners representation dated 09.02.2026 seeking correction of Petitioner date of birth from 16.02.1996 to 16.05.1996, after taking into consideration the documents produced by the Petitioner in accordance with law, within a time frame as may be fixed by this Hon'ble Court.”

2. The petitioner would submit that he was born on 16.05.1996. However, due to an inadvertent and bona fide error, his date of birth was wrongly entered as 16.02.1996 in the Register of Births and Deaths maintained by the competent authority. The petitioner would further submit that his correct date of birth, namely, 16.05.1996, is consistently reflected in his CBSE Mark Sheet, SRM University Transfer Certificate, Aadhaar Card, PAN Card and Driving Licence.

WP No. 43673 of 2026

3. The petitioner would submit that the discrepancy in the date of birth recorded in the Register of Births and Deaths is causing him considerable hardship, particularly in connection with the renewal of his Passport. Hence, seeking correction of the erroneous entry, the petitioner submitted a detailed representation dated 09.02.2026 before the respondents, particularly the 2nd respondent, enclosing all the relevant documentary evidence in support of his claim.

4. The petitioner would further submit that, despite receipt of the said representation along with the supporting documents, the respondents have neither considered the same nor passed any orders thereon. Hence, the present Writ Petition has been filed seeking the reliefs stated supra.

5. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the records.

6. It is rather surprising that a registered post addressed to the Corporation at its correct address has been returned with the endorsement “Insufficient Address”. This Court is at a loss to comprehend such a return. Be that as it may. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and the relief sought for by the petitioner, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the 2nd respondent to consider and pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's representation dated 09.02.2026, on merits and in accordance with law, within a

period of 4 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

7. Accordingly, this writ petition is allowed. No costs. 02-11-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Neutral Citation: Yes/No SHR To
