PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court for issuance of a Writ of Certiorari to call for the records relating to the impugned order passed by the third respondent made in Property Tax No.082/047/902421 dated 05.10.2026 and consequential order passed by the third respondent in Na.Ka.
No.A1/266/2025 dated 06.10.2026 and quash the same as illegal arbitrary.

ORDER
This is the second round of litigation. The petitioner had earlier approached this Court in W.P.(MD) No.27428 of 2026. Said Writ Petition was disposed of on 24.09.2026 by directing the petitioner to pay 1/4th of the amount assessed for each year.
2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the conditional order was complied with. In spite of such compliance, he submits that the respondents did not issue an assessment order and instead issued the impugned notices.
3. Accepting notice for the Karur Municipal Corporation, Mr.K.Balasubramani, learned Standing Counsel, submits that the petitioner is required to pay Rs.6,78,680/- per half-year. He adds that said half-yearly amount is required to be remitted up to the second half of financial year 2026-27. Subject to such remittance, he submits that an assessment order would be issued after considering the petitioner's objections to the property tax working sheet. __________

4. Considering the above submissions, this Writ Petition is disposed of on the following terms:
i. After adjusting amount of Rs.1,69,670/- paid earlier, the petitioner is directed to remit an additional amount of Rs.5,09,010/- so as to remit a sum of Rs.6,78,680/- in the aggregate towards the property tax demand under Assessment No.082/047/902421. Such additional remittance shall be made within 2 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
ii. Within the said 2 weeks, the petitioner is also permitted to submit objections, if any, to the working sheet handed over by the respondents.
iii. Within 30 days from the date of the petitioner making the remittance and submitting objections in the manner specified above, the respondents shall issue an assessment order in terms of the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act and the rules framed thereunder after carrying out an inspection of the property.
iv. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, the connected Miscellaneous Petitions are closed. 02-11-2026 Index: No Speaking Neutral Citation: No JEN __________
