Order

This writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents one to three to condone the attendance requirement by considering the reasons stated in the petitioner’s representation dated 28.10.2026, and to direct the fourth respondent to issue a hall ticket to her to write the 3rd semester examinations, which are commencing on 23.11.2026, for the 2nd year BCA LL. B.(Hons) degree course.

2. The case of the petitioner is that she is a second year student pursuing a 5-Year BCA LL.B.(Hons.) degree course at the School of Excellence in Law (SOEL), TNDALU, The petitioner faced an acute attendance shortfall, attending only 46 out of 77 working days, primarily due to combined involuntary hardships: a severe clinical medical condition (menorrhagia) that restricted her movement for 16 days, alongside acute emotional distress and

WP No. 45519 of 2026

mental health issues requiring clinical counselling following the demise of her close maternal grandfather and the concurrent hospitalisation of elderly family members, which accounted for an additional 19 missed days. Due to the shortfall, she was denied permission to undergo her viva voce or submit regular internal assignments on 22.10.2026, and despite submitting a written representation detailing these genuine medical and personal explanations on 28.10.2026, the respondents failed to pass any administrative orders. Aggrieved by the said inaction, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the absence of the petitioner was on account of compelling reasons, namely her medical condition. The fact that she was forced to take leave from the school was substantiated by her medical records and by her treating doctor. However, the same was not considered. These absolute records were submitted along with her ultimate representation dated 28.10.2026 to the fourth respondent.

4. Heard both sides and perused the materials available on record.

5. Taking into consideration, the facts and circumstances of the case and also considering the fact that the exam is scheduled to be commence on 23.11.2026, this Court directs the fourth respondent to consider the genuineness of the medical condition and the treatment taken by the petitioner, and thereafter

proceed to dispose of the representation dated 28.10.2026. The said exercise shall be done within a period of one week from today.

6. With these directions, this writ petition is disposed of. Connected miscellaneous petition is closed.Costs made easy. K.SURENDER J. 05-11-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order Neutral Citation: Yes/No VCA
