ORDER

(Made by A.D.JAGADISH CHANDIRA J.) This Writ Petition (Criminal) has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to grant 60 days furlough to the petitioner’s husband/convict prisoner based on the representation of the convict prisoner dated 26.03.2026.

2. The case of the petitioner is that her husband, M.Syed Mohamed Buhari (PID No.25181), was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment pursuant to the judgment dated 24.10.2007, passed in S.C.No.02 of 2000, on the file of the Sessions Court for Bomb Blast Cases, Coimbatore, which was subsequently confirmed by this Court. The petitioner’s husband/convict prisoner, who suffers from a heart ailment, had sent a representation dated 26.03.2026, to the respondents seeking an extension of his furlough for a further

period of 60 days, to enable him to undergo medical treatment and to attend to his pregnant wife. However, since the respondents have not considered the said representation, the petitioner has filed the present Writ Petition (Criminal) before this Court.

3. Though several grounds have been raised, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that it would suffice if this Court directs the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner’s husband/convict prisoner dated 26.03.2026 and pass appropriate orders as expeditiously as possible.

4. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents submitted that the representation of the petitioner’s husband/ convict prisoner dated 26.03.2026 would be duly considered by the first respondent, who is the competent authority and appropriate orders would be passed within the time stipulated by this Court.

5. In view of the above, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner’s husband/convict prisoner dated 26.03.2026 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
