Petitioners seek protection of their life and liberty as they apprehend danger at the hands of respondents No. 4 to 6 and other relatives because they have solemnised marriage on 27.12.2021 against the wishes of said respondents.
Learned counsel for the petitioners identifies the petitioners on the basis of documents attached. It is contended that the petitioners are major, their dates of birth being 12.07.1999 and 28.09.1995, respectively. Adhar Card of both the petitioners regarding their date of birth are appended with the petition as Annexures P-1 and P-2, respectively. Copy of marriage certificate is on record as Annexure P-4. It is submitted that there is no impediment to the marriage of the petitioners. Petitioners, it is stated, submitted representation dated 26.12.2021 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2 i.e., Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar (Rural), for redressal of their grievance but no action has been taken thereon.

Mr.Ramandeep Sandhu, Sr. DAG., Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3. Advance copy of the petition stands served. Without commenting upon the age of the petitioners or validity of their marriage or validity and genuineness of the certificates/documents appended with the petition, respondent No.2 –Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar (Rural), is directed to look into representation dated 26.12.2021, Annexure P-3 submitted by the petitioners and take appropriate action if any/as may be required, keeping in view the threat perception to the petitioners.
Petition is disposed of accordingly.
