In Re : Supriya Chaki ….. petitioner

Mr. Ayan Basu,

Mr. Prabir Kumar Das,

Mr. Sourav Bera,Mr. Sumit Routh

Mr. Sanjoy Bardhan,Mr. C. R. Ghosh

It is submitted by the learned Counsel appearing for thepetitioner that she is a lady and executed the power of attorney infavour of the co-accused Prodip Kumar Mondal to ply the vehicle inquestion.

Learned Counsel appearing for the State opposes the prayer foranticipatory bail and submits that the vehicle was used fortransportation of narcotic substance which is above commercialquantity.

We have considered the materials on record. We note the saidProdip Kumar Mondal is an accused in the present case. Involvement of the petitioner as a conspirator in the crime cannot be wholly ruledout.

In view of the gravity of the offence and her prima facieinvolvement in the alleged crime, we are of the opinion that this is nota fit case to grant anticipatory bail.

Accordingly, prayer for anticipatory bail is rejected.
