The matter pertains to the stoppage of grants-in-aid to the Assam State Cooperative Union by the Co-operation Department. The letter No.Coop.320/78/Pt/88 dated 10.1.1980 issued by the Under Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Co-operation Department shows that sanction of the Governor of Assam has been taken to meet the staff’s salary of the Assam State Cooperative Union and the same was with the concurrence of the Finance Department, vide U.O. No.Fin (EC I)1627/79 dated 10.1.1980 (Annexure-A in WP(C) 2988/2016).

Dr. B Ahmed, counsel for the Co-operation Department submits that the grants-in-aid that has been paid to the Assam State Cooperative Union has been stopped by the Finance Department. Accordingly, in view of the above, it is imperative that the Finance Department submits an affidavit in this regard.

On the prayer of Mr. P Nayak, counsel for the Finance Department, three weeks’ time is granted to file affidavit-in-opposition. List these matters on 21.11.2017.
