Heard Mr. A. Thakur, along with Ms. J.R. Thakur, learned counsel for the petitioner. Also heard Mr. M. Phukan, learned counsel representing the Agriculture Department.

The petitioner s the Chairman of Jorhat District Regulated Market Committee whose term is going to expire on 11.1.2013. According to the petitioner while the authority has extended the term of the other market committees, the petitioner hasbeen singled out by not granting such extension. In this connection, the petitioner has made representation to the Secretary, Agriculture Department, Govt. of Assam on 5.12.2012(Annexure-4). By the said representation, the petitioner has prayed for extension of the market committee.

Upon hearing the learned counsel for the parties and on perusal of the records, I deem it appropriate to dispose of the writ petition with a direction to the Secretary, Agriculture Department to take on record the Annexure -4 representationdated 5.12.2012 and dispose of the same, as expeditiously as possible, but at any rate not later then 10.1.2013. While considering the representation, the saidauthority shall also consider the plea of the petitioner that the term of the other market committee has already been extended on 21.11.2012.

With the above direction, the writ petition stands disposed of, without however, any order as to costs.
