***

Petitioners seek protection of their life and liberty as they apprehend danger at the hands of respondents No. 4 to 6 and other relatives because they have solemnised marriage on 28.12.2021 against the wishes of said respondents.

Learned counsel for the petitioners identifies the petitioners on the basis of documents attached. It is contended that the petitioners are major, date of birth of petitioner No. 1 being 24.11.2001 and year of birth of petitioner No. 2 being 1993, respectively. Aadhar cards of both the petitioners are appended with the petition as Annexures P1 and P2, respectively. Marriage certificate and the photographs of the marriage are on record as Annexures P-3 and P4. It is submitted that there is no impediment to the marriage of the petitioners. Petitioners, it is stated, submitted representation dated 28.12.2021 (Annexure P5) to respondent No.2 i.e., the Senior Superintendent of Police, Gurdaspur, for redressal of their grievance but no action has been taken thereon.

Notice of motion to respondents No.1 to 3.

Mr. Ramandeep Sandhu, Sr.DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3. Advance copy of the petition stands served.

Without commenting upon the age of the petitioners or validity of their marriage or validity and genuineness of the certificates/documents appended with the petition, respondent No.2 – Senior Superintendent of Police, Gurdaspur, is directed to look into representation dated 28.12.2021 submitted by the petitioners and take appropriate action if any/as may be required, keeping in view the threat perception to the petitioners.

Petition is disposed of accordingly.
